Transfer rates
There are many different data transfer rates for devices and the buses they are attached to. Transfer rates my be quoted as bits per second or bytes per second. 1 byte per second is the equiavalent of 8 bits per second.
The abbreviations for these rates can cause confusion.
Mbs - means million bits persond
MBs - means million bytes persond
Be sure to check whether "b" or "B" is used.
In increasing rates they are:
- USB 1 - 1.5 MBytes/s 12 Mbit/s
- USB 2 - 60 MBytes/s 480 Mbit/s
- USB 3 - 400 MBytes/s 3.2 Gbit/s
- DDR - 1.6 GBytes/s
- DDR2 - 6.4 GBytes/s
- DDR3 - 12.8 GBytes/s
- DDR4 - 25.6 GBytes/s
